MEKI Freeze-Dried Hiking or 7-Day Emergency Food Kit (Vegetarian)

The MEKI vegetarian freeze-dried food kit is suitable for hiking, travelling and emergency food storage. It contains 21 meal pouches with nine different dishes, together with accessories for heating water and preparing meals.

The meals come in lightweight, resealable pouches and can be prepared directly in the pouch by adding water. All meal pouches are packed in a sealed plastic container, providing additional protection during long-term storage.

The kit is vegetarian. Pasta Primavera contains dairy products.

When divided over seven days, the kit provides three meal pouches per day. This supplies an average of approximately 1304 kcal daily; the additional food required depends on individual energy needs and physical activity.

Meal preparation

Remove the oxygen absorber from the meal pouch. Add 200–300 ml of hot water, stir thoroughly, close the pouch and leave to stand for 8–10 minutes. When using cold water, leave to stand for 10–15 minutes. Stir again before eating.

Shelf life and storage

The kit has a shelf life of 8 years in its unopened, undamaged plastic container. The container protects the individual meal pouches during long-term storage.

Once the container is opened or damaged, use the meals within 36 months, but no later than the best-before date shown on the container. Meals sold individually have a standard shelf life of 36 months from manufacture.

Store in a dry place at temperatures up to 25 °C. Once a meal pouch is opened and water has been added, consume immediately.

Ingredient quantity explanation

The ingredient quantities in grams below refer to the amounts used to make 100 g of the finished dry product. Vegetables are weighed before freeze-drying; rice, buckwheat and pasta are weighed dry before cooking. As the water content changes during cooking and freeze-drying, the total weight of ingredients used may exceed 100 g.

Mango Curry with Vegetables — 110 g × 3 pouches

Ingredients: rice, coconut milk (coconut extract, water), cauliflower, broccoli, bell pepper, mango purée concentrate, onions, leek, rapeseed oil, ginger, garlic, turmeric, paprika powder, garam masala (spices, paprika, salt, onions, garlic, sugar, anti-caking agent: silicon dioxide), salt, lime powder.

32 g of mango purée concentrate and 155 g of vegetables are used to make 100 g of the finished dry product.
